Dressing up a favourite

EVEN THE BEST chef dreads the arduous task of preparing food for company—the pressure of trying to cook a meal that is both creative and delicious is always a dilemma. We’ve come up with a few recipe ideas that you can try without breaking the bank, or your back. Using the quick and easy university student staple, Kraft Dinner, each recipe is simple to make and yummy to eat!

  1. In the summer months, there is no dish as refreshing as cold pasta salad. Try mixing your Kraft Dinner with some spicy chipotle mayonnaise for a cheesy kick everyone is sure to love! For those who really enjoy hot foods, slice up some jalapeños and toss them into the salad. Don’t forget to refrigerate the dish so it’s nice and cold on those hot summer days.

  2. Everyone is familiar with the idea of adding hot dogs to Kraft Dinner, but we’ve got a new twist on an old favourite that’s sure to have your guests begging for the recipe. Don’t just add the hot dogs to the dish, season them too! Adding ketchup, mustard, and relish to the dogs, along with the package of cheese sauce, will make for a well-rounded meal.

  3. Looking to impress your company with a delicious casserole? Why not make Kraft Dinner and meatballs? Using the extra cheesy white cheddar flavour, add the pasta and the cooked meatballs into a deep ceramic dish and bake until golden. Your guests are sure to be amazed at how quickly you whipped up such a fantastic dish. Toss in some broccoli and red pepper to add colour and dig in!

  4. Do drunken nights out often leave you stuck with a surprise guest for breakfast? We’ve got a recipe for that as well! A quick and easy Kraft Dinner omelette is sure to please your guest and show off your fabulous culinary skills. Throw in some onions and mushrooms if you really want to impress, or stick with the classic KD-and-egg mix.

  5. Finding the perfect dessert can be tricky, but nothing beats a Kraft Dinner sundae! Using chocolate or vanilla ice cream, add some extra cheesy KD, and top with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, and of course, a cherry on top.

  6. For an afternoon sweet treat on the go, we recommend making your own Kraft Dinner snack bars. Mix together curly cheddar Kraft Dinner and peanuts, along with some sesame seeds, craisins, and dried banana slices. Add some thick and sticky honey and spoon into bar shapes. Place on a pan and refrigerate until solid.

Just because you have more time to cook in the summer months doesn’t mean you should have to! By using up all that Kraft Dinner you bought at the beginning of the school year, you should be able to become a master of quick dishes and the favourite host for dinner parties—it’s a good thing!
